MIMA Foundation was founded in 1996 by a group of South Florida physicians and nurses. This group has grown to include members from across the country.
MIMA Foundation sends medical specialists each year to Third World countries that have limited or unavailable medical care for the indigent population.
MIMA Foundation members are volunteers; no one is a paid employee and all funds are raised by the team members.
We have the dates now for the 2016 trip to Bolivia. Our plan is to coordinate with Pro-Salud in Cochabamba and work in their new facility again this year. ÂÂ Last year was our third experience there, and it was a very successful trip. It is new ÂÂ hospital with great equipment. We left supplies for this year and have an inventory last year and I will post a wish list. . We have OB-Gyne, Dr.Jennifer Daif and Dr. Ike Shasha, a General Surgeon. ÂÂ Our team is nearly complete. If you hear of any RNs or CRNAs interested, there are still two spots open. ÂÂ At this time, I need all committed volunteers to email me your license and a CV. It's their requirement, before we continue the process of setting up the program. Email to my personal email:
Our sceduled surgical ÂÂ program is May 20th - 29th. ÂÂ The flight on Friday departs at 11 pm, so you could theoretically work and take the Tri-Rail and still arrive with three hours before departing. ÂÂ Each person's contribution with be $250, which you should bring in CASH ÂÂ to Bolivia. Go to the bank and get GOOD BILLS; ie $100 bills with no markings or rips. This covers all meals in Bolivia and transportation. ÂÂ Room rates are $57 per night ( single) or $83 per night double. ÂÂ You can pay with a credit card, but be sure it has a chip which is required for international charging.ÂÂ
