MIMA Foundation would not be the organization that it is today without the help, donations, support and the effort of team members and volunteers. Supplies and materials are donated by medical supply companies, local hospitals and businesses. Our list goes on and on, and we will try to acknowledge those whose efforts have made the most impact on us up to this time.

Our first and foremost donor is Gayle Mc Bride of the Mc Bride Foundation in Naples, Florida. Gayle has supported our team since its inception in 1995, and actually made the difference when we needed it most. Often times, in our earlier years, we didn't have enough money for the whole trip, and Gayle came through with her generous financial support. Muchas Gracias, Gayle.

Dr. Ahmad and Cherie Toufanian hosted the First Annual Dinner to benefit the MIMA Foundation at their home in January of 2000. This helped to fund the March 2000 trip to Cochabamba, Bolivia. Although Ahmad and Cherie were unable to participate on this trip, they both volunteered in 1999 on our first trip to Pucallpa, Peru, where more than 75 surgical procedures were done in one week.

Drs. Sneh and Arvind Kapila hosted the Second Annual Dinner to benefit the MIMA Foundation at their home in January of 2001. This dinner helped to fund the March 2001 trip to Cochabamba, Bolivia. Dr. Arvind, an anesthesiologist at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center has volunteered on two trips, and his daughter, Swathi volunteered as a translator, on one trip. We hope that Dr. Sneh will join us soon, as well as the rest of her family.

Catering at the Kapila party was done by Boulevard Gourmet. and Dany Theibaut gets a huge round of applause for the fabulous spread.

Our area hospitals have been extremely generous by donating supplies, equipment, and storage for us, and have sterilized our surgical packs for use in Bolivia. This is a tremendous donation as everything is then sterile and ready to use. Muchas Gracias to St. Mary's Hospital and Kimmel Outpatient Surgical Center for their ongoing support. Also, we thank Palm Beach Gardens Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital, especially Don Marchetto.

Abbott Labs and especially Lisa Kassat Weiss have been very generous to the foundation as well. We received anesthesia supplies, IV tubing, medications and inhalation agents for anesthesia from them. We couldn't have done it as efficiently without their generosity. Thank You…

Kimberly Clark and especially Tom Kresse for their recent donation of sterile supplies for our 2001 trip.. Thanks Tom.

Thanks too to Veronica Alvarado and Jose Viera for meeting Tom and emptying his storage unit and moving into our new storage unit.

The Store Room and George Raszick for their generosity for donating a storage unit for our use throughout the year…Yeah…no more rent payments…we can now send 3 more team members after saving what we have spent annually at the "other" storage unit.

David Miller, our audiologist, joined the MIMA team for the first time in 2000. It was his first, but hopefully not his last trip to Bolivia, after leaving such an impact on so many lives. He spent his week testing for hearing aids and fitting of the aids for those who would benefit from them . He had Mary Weiss, a native of Bolivia, to translate and assit him all week. The highlight of the week came when we received a call from the "Sordo-Mudo Colegio" literally, the Deaf-Mute School .. David was concerned; what can I do for deaf mutes? We reassured him that maybe there would be a few patients that really weren't deaf. and it was worth seeing these patients. After everything was said and done. David fit all but a few students with hearing aids. It seems as though many children are labeled deaf if they are hearing impaired. so David touched a lot of lives. We'd like to thank many who made it possible for David to work under these conditions in Bolivia. Electone, of Longwood, Fl for the generous donation of hearing aids. Precision Mold Labs; Altamonte, Springs, FL for the ear molds. Rayovac, Wisconsin for the generous donation of hearing aid batteries. Muchas Gracias.. and let's keep up the good work.

Thanks to the area hospitals, St Mary's and especially Kelly Blakenship, Kathy Butler and Pat Casserta from Central Supply for their ongoing support and for sterilizing equipment for the last several years for each of the trips.

Jupiter Hospital, Wellington Hospital, Palms West and Good Samaritan for their ongoing support and donations.

Thanks to Ethicon for their generous support in donating sutures and to Valley Lab for loaning the bovie each year.

Thanks to Trans American printing for their generous discount for our printing needs.

Janet Baracevitch from Nowlen, Holt and Miner, CPAs for her generous donation of time and talent and for keeping our bookkeeping straight.
