MIMA - Bolivia Update 2020

Due to the political unrest in Bolivia and the current Covid -19 Pandemic, the MIMA Foundation's last surgical mission trip was in 2017.

However, MIMA continues to have a presence in Bolivia with outreach programs that are supported by your donations.

Some of these programs target a specific, underserved area in the outskirts of the city of Cochabamba, called Buena Vista. Anna Haarman, a volunteer from Holland, is in charge of these programs and reports to our organization regularly. The projects include solar panel installation, paving a playground area, and a new recreational center for the school. Additionally, sewing machines were purchased and an instructor was hired to teach the women how to use the new machines.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Bolivia has suffered enormously from the impact of the quarantine, lack of medical supplies, and medical personnel. Anna began a food distribution program to remote areas on a daily basis to provide needed food supplies to families. Anna has also started to work with "Angeles Contra el Covid, Cochabambaā€¯ (Angles Against Covid), that provides much needed medical support to remote communities that have no other access to care. This group of medical volunteers set up mobile clinic for treatment and education. MIMA is assisting by donation of medical supplies that have been stored in Cochabamba.

MIMA is also supporting "A Breeze of Hope", a non-profit that provides assistance to persons of abuse and violence, especially children.

We are grateful for your continued support of the MIMA Foundation.
